Lapageria rosea
Lapageria rosea is named for Napoleon Bonaparte's wife - Josephine Tascher de la Pagerie, who was keen on gardening.
Common name "Chilean Bell Flower" Other common names include Copuhie, and Chile bell.
ROSE-CRIMSON, 1-3 cluster - The flowers can be anywhere between crimson, and white - (albiflora). About 8 - 11 cm long.
ovoid berry - The edible fruit are about 5 cm (2") long, and a narrow egg shape; with pale yellow-brown seeds.
ov.lance.to12x2.5cm. - Ovate to lanceolate leaves, 6 - 12 cm (2.5" to 5") long by 2.5 cm (an inch) wide (mine are shorter and wider, more ovate - sub-cordate) glossy, dark rose, leathery, alternate.
ecl - An everrose climber - the stems can reach to 10 meters (over 30 feet).

Bright light, but avoid direct sunlight, and temperatures below -5°C = 23°F.
Free-draining humus-rich lime-free soil.
Pre-soak seeds for 48 hours before sowing, germinates best just above freezing - 4°C.
Sow seeds on a peat based (slightly acidic) compost with about 30% grit added for good drainage. Cover with about 0.5 cm. grit. When shoots appear the seedlings need bright light, but not direct sunlight.
