San-Pedro
Echinopsis pachanoi (Trichocereus pachanoi)
is included in
the following B & T World Seeds sub-lists:
Echinopsis species germinate best between 70 and 80°F.
Free draining seed compost with a top layer of fine grit to prevent moss and algae, firm gently with a flat object such as a match-box.
High humidity at all times; water from below or mist gently to avoid disturbing seeds - the container may be covered with a sheet of glass or a plastic bag to maintain the humidity.
Requires light (but not direct sunlight as this will dry the surface of the compost). More recent information suggests that Cactus seeds do not need light, but they do need to be surface sown.
Surface sow and press gently into the fine grit with a flat object.
Maintain the humidity until the second year when the small plants are established then harden off and grow on in full sun in moisture retentive but well drained moderately fertile and preferably calcareous soil.
